Activity 2.1 Introduction to feedforward

Get some FEEDFORWARD on your Leadership

Because you want to build your leadership skills, it is important to get some insight from those who know you.  By getting these insights, you gain a new perspective on your leadership.  I know what you are thinking – “Oh no, do I have to get feedback – I hate that!”  If this is what you are thinking you are not alone and we have the solution for you.  At KarmaLead we are going to make this really easy on you by asking you to get some “feedforward” rather than “feedback.”

The feedforward process was developed by Marshall Goldsmith, who is one of the world’s most in-demand executive coaches.  As a coach, he suggests that leaders need to get some feedback on how well they are doing.  However, feedback is past-focused, not future-focused, and we want your leadership development to be future-focused. That is where feedforward comes in.

Feedforward is designed to give you some suggestions for the future of your leadership and ask your selected participants to help as much as they can. As the receiver of feedforward,  your job is simply to accept feedforward—that is, to listen to the suggestions for the future and learn as much as you can. Your feedforward session will be completed in less than 20 minutes.
